The requirements for packaging of air cargo should be firm and complete. During transportation, it can prevent packaging from rupturing, leaking, and content loss, prevent cargo from being damaged or deteriorated due to stacking, vibration, or changes in air pressure and temperature, prevent injury to personnel, or pollution of aircraft, ground equipment, and other related items.
The outer surface of the packaging should not have protruding nails or thorns. If the packaging is clean and dry, it should ensure that there are no odor or oil stains. Air cargo agents require that advanced materials in the packaging should not leak out. Except for goods packaged in paper bags, consigned goods should be tied with straps. It is strictly forbidden to use grass bags or grass ropes to bind the cargo. The packaging straps used to tie the cargo should be able to bear the full weight of the cargo and ensure that the cargo remains open when lifted.
If the packaging of the goods does not meet the relevant regulations, the consignor should strictly require improvements or repacking of the goods before delivery. The special packaging requirements of express delivery for certain goods by air cargo companies are for precision fragile goods and fragile goods. The gross weight of a single piece of goods should not exceed the standard weight. A method that can be used is multilevel packaging.
Determine the weight and size of the goods that can be accepted and transported based on the aircraft model, departure and transit stations and airport equipment conditions, and the loading and unloading capacity of the destination station. The size of air cargo, except for documents and letters that can be directly attached to the air waybill, the length, width, height, and distance of other goods shall not be less than the prescribed distance. If it is lower than the above standards, the consignor shall package it.
If the shipper needs urgent cargo transportation, with the consent of the carrier, it can handle urgent cargo transportation and charge the freight for emergency cargo as required. Without the special approval of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, microorganisms and products harmful to the human body such as bacteria, animals, plants, carrier culture media, etc. shall not be transported. Air cargo agents can carry sterile and non-toxic certificates provided by shippers in accordance with the carriage of ordinary goods. Storage and transportation of microorganisms and harmful biological products should be far away from food.
For the transportation of plant products, a valid quarantine certificate issued by the plant quarantine department at or above the county level where the consignor is located must be provided. When the shipper is handling the consignment, a certificate issued by the funeral department must be provided. The transportation of dangerous goods must be in accordance with the regulations of the Civil Aviation Administration of China on the air transport safety of dangerous goods. The shipper should contact the carrier in advance and reserve the cabin for the animals transported.
When handling consignment procedures, it is necessary to fill in the declaration form for the transportation of live animals. For animals that require special care, feeding, and transportation in large quantities, someone should be sent to escort them. The animal packaging should be easy to load and unload, suitable for the characteristics of the animal and the requirements of air transportation. It can prevent animals from running away and coming into contact with the outside world. There are measures to prevent excrement from overflowing at the bottom, to ensure ventilation and prevent the animals from suffocating. The relevant precautions should be indicated on the outer packaging of the animals for easy storage and transportation. Note that air cargo carriers should pack animals in cabins suitable for transporting animals. If the animals die during transportation, the carrier is not responsible except for carrier mistakes.
